Jenny Craig

If anybody is interested, my friend's mom went on the Jenny Craig diet a couple months ago. Within the first month she lost 11 pound and is now up to 18 pounds. She said it really works, however it requires a lifestyle change. She said she stopped eating the food, thinking she was at a good place, but because she did not maintain the active lifestyle and specific types and amounts of food she was eating, she gained back 7 pounds in two weeks. That is a lot. Reading Pollan's book really came to mind when she told me this story. If you are going to make a change, you have to adjust several aspects of your life, not just the food.

  1. My grandmother had a very similar experience. I think that fact that the spokeswoman, Kirstie Alley, gained 80 pounds after going off Jenny Craig says it all. I don't trust those quick-fix diets. Unless it's the week before prom, in which case a quick-fix is sometimes necessary! Just kidding.
