This past Sunday was my birthday and we went to La Parilla, which happens to be the place that I reviewed for Blog Post #2. This restaurant is not the best restaurant around when it comes to actual quality, but it is an exciting atmosphere and my favorite Mexican restaurant. One of my cousins told a waiter it was my birthday. So when the band came around to our table, before asking for requests they played happy birthday and brought out fried icecream. (How icecream is "fried" I do not know.) Then they proceeded to play my dad's request of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall". One of the singers puts down his instrument, pulls me from my seat and dances with me. He spins, dips, even lifts me around throughout the whole song! It was by far my most exciting time at La Parilla!
That's so awesome! At Macaroni Grille, the waiters make you stand up on a chair and swing a bandana around your head while they sing Happy Birthday. My friends and I took our friend Sarah there one year, and told the waiter it was her birthday. When they told her to stand on the chair while they sang, she started crying and ran out of the restaurant. Good times.
ReplyDeleteHahahahha that's funny! I'll have to take someone there now, especially and easily embarrassed person because then it is sooooo much more fun!
ReplyDeleteHa--that's awesome that they invade personal space--that takes guts to do, but it can produce the memories that will bring people back! Personally, it might have been a bit overkill for my tastes, but I'll always take free food.
ReplyDeleteA lot of restaurants that used to give out free cakes on birthdays have stopped doing so. I'm glad La Parilla has stuck to the tradition!
ReplyDeleteI love birthday celebrations at restaurants! There's nothing better than feeling special when you go out to dinner! Fried ice cream is awesome, by the way!
ReplyDeleteHaha thats really funny. I've been to La Parilla and you nailed it by saying that the food isnt the best but the atmosphere is great. And the food is still pretty good. I love their chips and dip.
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing. Sounds like a fun an entertaining birthday. I look forward to visiting the Parrilla in the future, I been hearing a lot about it and I love Mexican food.
