Building Expectations

Today my friend and I decided to mix it up and instead of going to the dinning hall, we decided to go to the Varsity. I should mention this was my first time visiting the Varsity, I had somewhat build up great expectations for it since it is so known among the Georgia Tech Community. When we got there I was impressed by the layout of the restaurant, however as far as the food goes, not so impressed. I ordered a chicken salad sandwhich. When the employee had my order done, he rudely threw the sandwhich on my tray. Not the mention the fries were kind of burnt. But now looking back at it, what more should I had expected from a fast food restaurant. Despite of it all, I had a nice lunch, nothing out of the ordinary.

  1. Yeah, i've learned not to ever get high hopes when going to the Varsity. Every time its the same thing, greasy food.

  2. I have never been to Varsity even though I have always wanted to go. Sounds like it's a really busy place. For me it doesn't matter if it is greasy food. Anything different from the dining hall food would be nice.

  3. The Varsity is way over hyped. Being from the metro Atlanta area all my life people have always talked about how famous the Varsity is, but the food is really greasy. The other thing is, since they do have the publicity they overcharge for a small portion of food. It's not that good, but definitely don't be expecting much.

  4. Everyone should go the Varsity once. But you only go to say you have been. Beyond that it isn't that great. I would recommend not eating it for breakfast either

  5. The Varsity is a restaurant of legend! If you're from here, you know the food is greasy. But going to the Varsity is not about that.
And Rita, you HAVE to get a burger if you go to the Varsity. It's a part of the experience. I hope you eat red meat. A chicken salad sandwich just won't do.
