Julia Child Show

It has been a long time since I watched a cooking show. When I watched thirty minutes of the Julia Child show it seemed quite interesting. You could make out that the show was pretty old and so was Julia Child. She always seemed to be happy and there was an optimistic felling about her. She was about to prepare a lobster dinner. In front of her was a huge lobster about the size of a handbag. I think it was the biggest lobster I had ever seen. Before the cooking she went on to explain the different sizes of lobsters and also took out smaller ones to show the audience.

She explained that there were two ways of preparing a lobster, boiling and steaming. There already was a lobster which was being steamed. She went on to examine the lobster which I felt was a unique part of the show because in other shows the cook directly heads towards the cooking part. She explained how to distinguish the gender of the lobster. Then she cracked open one of the lobsters and explained what was to be done with the egg.

I thought the show was meant for people who really like to cook and also people who like to eat. Even though preparing a lobster seems simple enough I don’t think it is when you actually enter the kitchen and try it. She had planned it out conveniently as she had everything she needed in front of her. I think it is a decent cooking show even though it is old. It clearly explains how to cook a meal and does not deviate from that aspect. One of the most impressive aspects of the show is that the camera is always focused on her so there is no margin for error. In the end she also shows the audience how the lobster is supposed to be eaten with the appropriate tools. It’s a fun show and can be watched by anyone who has any interest in food.

  1. I agree with your comments about Julia Child's shows. Ever since i watched her video, I have made her the standard for cooking programs. She really teaches people to cook and her passion is easily seen.
