First try at cooking

Having spent a lot of money on food, I and some of my friends thought of trying out our luck on preparing food by ourself. So we all met areound 2 in the afternoon with some ready to cook meals and some breads. We set out on cooking these and it turned out to be real tasty. I know people who are lucky to have food at their homes, wouldnt have liked it as much as we liked as it was our effort which had gone in cooking these foodstuff. I really enjoyed it.

  1. What exactly did you cook? Sounds like y'all had fun! I have yet to cook in my dorm... I'm not necessarily the most "domestic" girl in the world. But props to you for cooking!

  2. Cheers to you. I haven't cook in my dorm and I'm not really planning on it. I consider myself a bad cook or rather an unexperienced cook destined to be bad. I haven't cook anything in my life beside heating up frozen dinners and making sandwhiches (peanut butter and jelly is my speciality). =)

  3. You should get a pat on the back. I most likely will never even attempt to cook in the dorm "kitchen". Like Griffin, i am also interested in what you cooked! Fill us in!

  4. I'd have to agree--making something yourself is really rewarding! What type of bread did you make?

  5. hey wow i never thought so many comments would actually flow in for this blog post. I am really glad for that matter. I would say for the people who like cooking or who don't like it, everyone must try. Its just that you should keep trying new stuff.I surely like to tell in details what all we cooked if anyone in here interested.

  6. The first time I cooked was at a restaurant. It was quite scary because there were only 4 cooks then. One making sandwiches and burgers, one making omelets, and the other 2 (me included) handled chicken fingers, hashbrowns, pancakes, etc. I remember making a waffle without the anti-stick spray...that was quite an experience. Well I'm glad I had those experiences so I can cook now.

  7. You guys are lucky to have a kitchen in your building- 4th floor Folk doesn't! It would be nice to be able to cook a small meal once in a while instead of having to eat at the dining halls every day.

  8. That is awesome. Everything tastes better if you make it yourself. The satisfaction must have been incredible. This is the first I've heard of dorm kitchen cooking besides Ramen noodles.

  9. I agree, there is different kind of enjoyment that comes with preparing or making something yourself. The most i've "cooked" this year was a meal of instant noodles late one night..

  10. I can't believe this was you first time cooking, you've been missing out! I don't really cook that often but it is somewhat enjoyable and extremely rewarding to eat something you've created.
