Another dining hall

Across the street of North Ave on East Campus lays a wonderful area also known as East Side Market. East Side Market holds restaurants that are quite popular to Georgia Tech students, some include Quiznos, Pizza Hut, and Wingnuts. On top of that, it even holds a small convenience store in which a student can buy supplies (milk, juice, etc) without having to go all the way to Publix or Target. To students, this is a huge convenience having all these stores there, however, Georgia Tech is deciding to be stupid and is building another dining hall. Honestly, there is absolutely no point in having another dining hall in place of East Side Market, especially when the Brittain Dining Hall is right across the street, and if the reason is that North Ave Apartments need a dining hall then that is a horrible excuse. Students can walk an extra 500 feet, they probably need the exercise anyways. Georgia Tech does not seem to think a lot nowadays.

  1. I just hope they find a replacement location for Wingnuts on campus! It would be sad to see the end of Wednesday night trips for wings.

  2. I agree that it would be a huge mistake to make another dining hall. Although i am not fan of Wingnuts, I realize that it is vital to many students existence.I also agree that it is not difficult to walk the extra few feet to Brittain since it is on the way to classes anyway

  3. I wouldn't say there is absolutely no point in another dining hall as the dining halls, especially Brittain, are currently serving more meals than they were originally intended to. The construction of another dining hall would help alleviate this problem, as well as to attract more residents of the north avenue apartments to subscribe to the meal plan. But if Georgia Tech must construct a dining hall, then i hope at least they'll be able to relocate Wingnuts and the convenience store.

  4. I definitely agree. Building a dinning hall in North Ave when Brittain is just across the street is a dumb idea. I would hate to see Wingnuts, Quiznos and the East Side Market go since they are my backup when there is nothing good at the dinning hall or is pass 10 pm.

  5. The only reason that Brittain is overcrowded is because they force freshmen to get on the Tech meal plan. If they would let freshmen drop the meal plan altogether, then Brittain would see a huge drop in demand.
