Dissapointing Weekends at Brittain
Through out my life weekends have been a time for relaxation, fun, and good food. However, the Brittain dining hall has unfortunately begun to change my perception of the weekend. The food at Brittain on weekends is mundain and repetitive. For instance, Saturday the same dish was served all day. It's not that the food was terrible, but rather the repetitive nature of eating the same exact meal three times in one day really makes the day dissapointing. This is a huge change from my days prior to college when the weekends would allow my family ample time to cook truely amazing meals that never lacked in variety. This past weekend has left me starving for a good home cooked meal.

ReplyDeleteThe food at both dining halls on campus do seem to have been quite repetitive even on the weekdays. I'm fortunate enough to be able to go home most weekends and eat home cooked meals which do seem to be more delicious than I had remembered them to be. I hope your desire for a home cooked meal or a meal equally as good is satisfied soon. =]
ReplyDeleteI truly agree with Thomas and Jonathan that the meals have been quite repetitive not only on weekends but also on weekdays. I try to taste different foodstuffs by going out to different food outlets. Its always nice to eat at such places but its not reasonable to always go out and eat as it has cost me a lot already. So i truly wish that both the dining halls try to improvise the variety of their servings.
ReplyDeleteI feel your nostalgia. When I went home a couple weeks ago I realized exactly what I had been missing. To me, it seems that sometimes the dining halls can make different foods, but they are all greasy and a vast majority of it tastes the same, which is greasy, heavy, and bland.
ReplyDeleteRebekah, you jast made me want to go home. I can completely agree with what you are saying and as a matter of fact experienced the same thing over labor day weekend. I can honestly say that the not only does dinning hall food not make the grade, but that it is more than lacking on weekends. I personally am very familiar with weekend food. AS a result of my fraternities meal plan I have to find my own sustinence on Saturday and Sunday. Sadly, I usually find said sustanance in Brittain.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed this about Brittain as well. Another thing that I don't understand is that they serve breakfast till 2 p.m. On one occasion I slept in till 1 and appreciated the breakfast food at 1:30, but other than that I really would like lunch food at lunch time.
ReplyDeleteLike Ethan, I'm also on my fraternity's meal plan, but I'm only on a partial plan (5 meals per week), so I still eat at Brittain. Fraternity meal plans are a huge perk to pledging. Not only is the food really good (well, ours is at least), but it is different every day, which is my biggest gripe with Brittain.
